The Luthuli Museum is a national museum at Groutville in KwaZulu-Natal, based in the home of Chief Albert Luthuli, where he lived from 1927 until his death in 1967.
Luthuli was president-general of the African National Congress from 1952 and the first African recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded in 1960 for his commitment to non-violent resistance to apartheid. He was subject to banning orders that confined him to the Groutville area for much of his later life.
The museum preserves the house and its contents, holds collections relating to his life and the wider liberation movement, and runs education and outreach programmes. It reports to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
