The Mandela Bay Theatre Complex is a performing arts institution in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, operating the venue formerly known as the Port Elizabeth Opera House.
The original Opera House opened in 1892 and is among the oldest surviving theatres in Southern Africa. The complex presents drama, music, dance and community productions, and provides a professional venue for a region with limited large-scale performing arts infrastructure.
Its work includes development programmes for local practitioners and outreach into surrounding communities. It reports to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
