National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF)

The National Film and Video Foundation develops and promotes the South African film and video industry. It was established under the National Film and Video Foundation Act, 1997 (Act No. 73 of 1997).
It provides funding for development, production, marketing and distribution of South African films and documentaries, and for training and bursaries in the sector. It also funds film festivals and industry events.
It promotes South African film internationally, supports the country’s submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, and produces research on the size and performance of the industry. Its mandate includes redressing historical exclusion from the industry. It reports to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
