National School of Government (NSG)
National Department · Finance and Administration Services · reports to Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA)
The National School of Government is the training institution for the South African public service. It was established in 2013, replacing the Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy, and operates as a national department within the public service and administration portfolio.
It provides education, training and development to public servants across all three spheres of government, and to employees of public entities. Its curriculum covers induction for new entrants, compulsory programmes such as the Nyukela pre-entry programme for senior management service appointments, ethics and anti-corruption, financial management, and leadership development.
It operates on a partly cost-recovery basis through a training trading account, and delivers courses in person, online and in the workplace.
