The Road Traffic Management Corporation coordinates road traffic management across the three spheres of government. It was established under the Road Traffic Management Corporation Act, 1999 (Act No. 20 of 1999).
Its functions include road safety education and communication, traffic law enforcement coordination, the training of traffic officers through its colleges, accident and traffic information systems, and vehicle registration and licensing systems support.
It operates the National Traffic Information System, known as eNaTIS, which holds the national records of registered vehicles, driving licences and traffic infringements, and it compiles the national road traffic fatality statistics. It reports to the Department of Transport.
