South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS)

The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport is the national anti-doping organisation. It was established under the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport Act, 1997 (Act No. 14 of 1997).
It promotes participation in sport free from the use of prohibited substances and methods, conducting doping control testing both in and out of competition across sporting codes, and managing results and sanctions.
It operates under the World Anti-Doping Code and South Africa’s obligations under the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport. Its work includes athlete and coach education, therapeutic use exemptions, and independent doping hearings. It reports to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
