The South African Mint is the sole minter of South African coinage. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South African Reserve Bank and operates from Centurion, Gauteng.

It manufactures the circulation coin issued by the Reserve Bank, and produces commemorative and collectable coin including the Krugerrand, the gold bullion coin first minted in 1967 which became one of the most widely traded bullion coins in the world. It also mints coin and blanks for a number of other countries.

As a Reserve Bank subsidiary its accounts fall outside the ordinary public entity reporting framework, and it operates on a commercial basis.
