Brand South Africa
Public Entity · Central Government Administration · reports to The Presidency
Brand South Africa manages the nation brand of South Africa. It was established in 2002 as the International Marketing Council of South Africa and adopted its current name in 2010.
Its mandate is to build the country’s reputation and image in order to improve its global competitiveness, and to build pride and patriotism among South Africans. It is a reputation management organisation rather than a marketing agency for a particular sector.
Its work includes research on how South Africa is perceived abroad and at home, tracking the country’s standing in global competitiveness and reputation indices, coordinating the messaging used by government and business internationally, and the Play Your Part citizen activation campaign. It reports through the Presidency.
