Magalies Water

Public Entity · Economic Infrastructure and Development · reports to Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS)

Magalies Water is a bulk water utility supplying parts of the North West, Limpopo and Gauteng provinces. It operates as a water board under the Water Services Act, 1997.

It abstracts raw water largely from dams in the Crocodile and Olifants river systems, treats it at works including Vaalkop and Klipdrift, and supplies it in bulk to municipalities, mines and industrial customers in its service area.

Its area covers the platinum mining belt around Rustenburg and the Bojanala and Waterberg districts, where mining and municipal demand both draw on limited local water resources. It reports to the Department of Water and Sanitation.
