Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA)
Public Entity · Central Government Administration · reports to Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG)
The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent provides technical support to municipalities for infrastructure delivery. It operates as a government component within the Department of Cooperative Governance.
It was created because many municipalities lack the engineering and project management capacity to plan, procure and manage infrastructure, which contributes to under-spending of grant funding and to poor asset condition.
It deploys technical professionals to municipalities, supports infrastructure planning and project preparation, assists with the management of the Municipal Infrastructure Grant, and runs skills development programmes including apprenticeships and the placement of graduate engineers and technicians in municipalities.
