The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State is a national performing arts institution based in Bloemfontein.
It operates the Sand du Plessis Theatre complex, comprising an opera house and a smaller theatre, together with the older Andre Huguenet Theatre. It presents drama, dance, music and community productions, and provides the principal professional performing arts venue in the province.
Like the other performing arts councils established in the apartheid era, it was repositioned after 1994 to serve all communities, and its programming includes work in Sesotho and Afrikaans alongside English. It runs development and outreach programmes for practitioners in the central region. It reports to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
