South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC)
Public Entity · Economic Infrastructure and Development · reports to Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR)
The South African National Petroleum Company is the state oil company formed by consolidating the petroleum assets held within the Central Energy Fund group.
It brings together PetroSA, the Strategic Fuel Fund and iGas into a single entity, an amalgamation intended to create a state petroleum company of viable scale rather than three separately constrained subsidiaries.
Its intended scope covers upstream participation, the strategic fuel stock function, gas infrastructure interests, refining and the trading and distribution of petroleum products. It gives the state a vehicle for participation in the upstream petroleum sector under the Upstream Petroleum Resources Development Act. It falls within the mineral and petroleum resources portfolio.
