The uMsunduzi Museum is a national museum in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. It incorporates the former Voortrekker Museum and has been repositioned to present a broader account of the region’s history.
Its sites include the Church of the Vow, the Voortrekker Complex, the Ncome Museum at the Blood River battlefield, and the Ncome and Blood River monuments. The Ncome Museum was opened to present the Zulu perspective on the 1838 battle, alongside the existing memorial on the opposite bank.
The institution’s remit covers the settler, Zulu and Indian histories of the uMsunduzi area, and it reports to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
