The War Museum of the Boer Republics is a national museum in Bloemfontein devoted to the South African War of 1899 to 1902, also known as the Anglo-Boer War.
It was opened in 1931 alongside the National Women’s Monument, which commemorates the women and children who died in the British concentration camps during that war. Its collections cover the military course of the conflict, the concentration camps, the scorched earth policy, and the experience of black South Africans, whose role in and suffering during the war was long under-represented.
It holds art, photographs, weapons, documents and personal effects, and maintains a research library and genealogical records. It reports to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
