The .za Domain Name Authority administers and manages the .za country code top-level domain. It was established under Chapter 10 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (Act No. 25 of 2002).
It licenses and regulates the registries operating the second-level domains under .za, of which co.za is by far the largest, and sets policy for the namespace including registration requirements and dispute procedures.
It also promotes the growth and use of the .za namespace, supports the alternative dispute resolution process for domain name disputes, and represents South Africa in international internet governance forums. It reports to the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies.
