FASSET is the sector education and training authority for finance, accounting, management consulting and other financial services, established under the Skills Development Act, 1998.
Its scope covers accounting and auditing practices, tax practitioners, management consultants, business and management services, stockbroking, and the finance functions of the public sector including National Treasury and the Auditor-General.
It develops the sector skills plan and funds learnerships, internships, bursaries and skills programmes. Because its sector is dominated by professional qualifications, much of its work supports candidates through the training contracts and articles required for professional registration as chartered accountants and other designated professionals.
