The MICT SETA is the sector education and training authority for media, information and communication technologies, established under the Skills Development Act, 1998.
It covers five subsectors: advertising, film and electronic media, electronics, information technology, and telecommunications.
It develops the sector skills plan and funds learnerships, internships, bursaries and skills programmes, and accredits training providers. Its priorities reflect persistent scarce skills in software development, cybersecurity, data science, cloud computing and network engineering, and it supports work-readiness programmes intended to move graduates into a sector where employers report difficulty filling technical roles.
