National Gambling Board (NGB)

The National Gambling Board oversees the regulation of the gambling industry in South Africa. It operates under the National Gambling Act, 2004 (Act No. 7 of 2004).
Gambling is a concurrent national and provincial competence: provincial licensing authorities license and regulate operators within their provinces, and the Board provides national oversight, monitors provincial regulators for consistency, and maintains national registers.
It maintains the national registers of gambling machines, devices and excluded persons, conducts research on the socio-economic impact of gambling, and evaluates the performance of provincial regulators. It reports to the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
