The National Youth Development Agency advances youth development in South Africa. It was established under the National Youth Development Agency Act, 2008 (Act No. 54 of 2008), merging the Umsobomvu Youth Fund and the National Youth Commission.
Its mandate covers youth economic participation, education and skills, health and wellbeing, and social cohesion. It provides grant funding and business development support to young entrepreneurs, career guidance, job preparedness training and placement support.
It also lobbies for the mainstreaming of youth development across government and monitors the implementation of the National Youth Policy. It is located within the Presidency and reports through the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities.
