Services Sector Education and Training Authority (SSETA)
SETA · Social Services · reports to Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)
The Services SETA is the sector education and training authority for the services industries, established under the Skills Development Act, 1998 and funded by the skills development levy.
Its scope covers a broad set of subsectors including cleaning and hiring services, contact centres, labour recruitment, real estate, project management, marketing, hairdressing and beauty, funeral services, and postal and courier services.
It develops the sector skills plan, funds learnerships, internships and skills programmes, awards discretionary grants to employers and training providers, and accredits providers delivering its qualifications. Many of its subsectors are labour-intensive and employ large numbers of entry-level workers, which shapes its emphasis on foundational and occupational skills.
