South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP)
Public Entity · Central Government Administration · reports to Council for the Built Environment (CBE)
The South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession regulates property valuers. It operates under the Property Valuers Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 47 of 2000), and is one of the six councils coordinated by the Council for the Built Environment.
Property valuation underpins municipal rates rolls, mortgage lending, expropriation compensation and financial reporting, so the competence and independence of valuers carries direct public and fiscal consequence.
The Council registers professional valuers, associated valuers and candidates, prescribes the education and experience required for each category, accredits qualifying programmes, and exercises disciplinary jurisdiction. It also identifies valuation work reserved for registered persons.
