The University of Johannesburg is a public university formed in 2005 through the merger of the Rand Afrikaans University, the Technikon Witwatersrand and the Soweto and East Rand campuses of the former Vista University.

It is a comprehensive university, meaning it offers both traditional academic degrees and vocationally oriented qualifications, and it teaches across faculties including Art, Design and Architecture, Business and Economics, Education, Engineering and the Built Environment, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, Science, and the College of Business and Economics.

It operates four campuses in Johannesburg: Auckland Park Kingsway, Auckland Park Bunting Road, Doornfontein and Soweto. It is among the largest contact universities in South Africa by enrolment.
