Walter Sisulu University is a public comprehensive university in the Eastern Cape, formed in 2005 by merging the University of Transkei, Border Technikon and Eastern Cape Technikon.

It is named after Walter Sisulu, the anti-apartheid leader and long-serving secretary-general of the African National Congress. As a comprehensive university it offers both academic degrees and vocational qualifications.

It operates four campus clusters at Mthatha, Butterworth, East London and Queenstown, serving one of the most rural and least economically developed regions of the country. Its faculties cover Health Sciences, Economic and Financial Sciences, Education, Engineering Built Environment and Information Technology, Humanities Social Sciences and Law, and Natural Sciences.
