Agrément South Africa (ASA)

Public Entity · Central Government Administration · reports to Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI)

Agrément South Africa assesses and certifies non-standardised construction products and systems. It was established as a public entity under the Agrément South Africa Act, 2015 (Act No. 11 of 2015), having previously operated within the CSIR.

Its certification covers construction products for which no South African national standard exists, typically innovative building systems and materials. An Agrément certificate provides assurance to specifiers, regulators and financiers that a product is fit for purpose.

Its work is significant for alternative building technologies in housing delivery, where certification is a precondition for use in subsidised housing programmes. It reports to the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.
