Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority (AgriSETA)
SETA · Social Services · reports to Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)
AgriSETA is the sector education and training authority for agriculture, established under the Skills Development Act, 1998 and funded by the skills development levy.
Its scope covers primary agriculture, including field crops, horticulture, livestock and mixed farming, and secondary agriculture, including the processing of agricultural products. It serves both large commercial operations and a substantial constituency of smallholder and emerging farmers.
It develops the sector skills plan and funds learnerships, internships, bursaries and skills programmes, and accredits agricultural training providers. Its work includes support for new-era farmers and for land reform beneficiaries, where the skills gap is a recognised constraint on the productive use of transferred land.
