The Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa regulates complementary and allied health professions. It operates under the Allied Health Professions Act, 1982 (Act No. 63 of 1982).

It registers practitioners in professions including chiropractic, homeopathy, naturopathy, osteopathy, phytotherapy, therapeutic aromatherapy, therapeutic massage therapy, therapeutic reflexology, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine and acupuncture, and Unani-Tibb.

Its statutory objective is to protect the public by ensuring that only practitioners who meet prescribed education and training standards may register and practise in these fields. It accredits training programmes, maintains the registers, sets ethical rules and exercises disciplinary jurisdiction. It reports to the Department of Health.
