The Cape Peninsula University of Technology is a public university of technology in the Western Cape, formed in 2005 by merging the Cape Technikon and the Peninsula Technikon.
As a university of technology its programmes are vocationally oriented and career focused, with a strong emphasis on work-integrated learning. Its faculties cover Applied Sciences, Business and Management Sciences, Education, Engineering and the Built Environment, Health and Wellness Sciences, and Informatics and Design.
It is the largest university in the Western Cape by enrolment and operates campuses across Cape Town, Bellville, Wellington, Mowbray and Granger Bay. Its research includes work in satellite engineering, having built and launched South Africa’s first nanosatellites.
