INSETA is the sector education and training authority for the insurance sector, established under the Skills Development Act, 1998.
Its scope covers long-term and short-term insurance, reinsurance, insurance broking, risk management, funeral insurance, healthcare benefits administration and unit trust management.
It develops the sector skills plan and funds learnerships, internships, bursaries and skills programmes. Much of its work supports the fit and proper competency requirements that financial services providers and representatives must meet under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, alongside broader transformation and small business development in insurance broking.
