Mangosuthu University of Technology

Mangosuthu University of Technology is a public university of technology at Umlazi, south of Durban. It was founded in 1979 as Mangosuthu Technikon and attained university of technology status in 2007.

It offers vocationally oriented qualifications across three faculties: Engineering, Management Sciences, and Natural Sciences. Its programmes emphasise applied training with workplace experience, in fields including chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, accounting, public management, and analytical chemistry.

It serves a largely local catchment in the Umlazi and greater Durban area and is among the smaller public higher education institutions by enrolment.
