National Development Agency (NDA)

The National Development Agency contributes to the eradication of poverty and its causes by funding and supporting civil society organisations. It was established under the National Development Agency Act, 1998 (Act No. 108 of 1998).

It grants funding to civil society organisations delivering development projects in poor communities, and builds their institutional capacity so that they can access other funding and deliver more effectively. Its focus areas include food security, early childhood development, and income generation.

It also conducts research on development and the role of civil society, and advises the Minister on policy affecting the sector. It reports to the Department of Social Development.
