The South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Profession regulates landscape architects. It operates under the Landscape Architectural Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 45 of 2000), and is one of the six councils coordinated by the Council for the Built Environment.
Landscape architecture covers the planning, design and management of outdoor environments, from urban open space and streetscapes to ecological restoration and the landscape components of large infrastructure projects.
The Council registers professional landscape architects, landscape technologists and candidates, accredits the education programmes leading to registration, and exercises disciplinary jurisdiction over registered persons.
