The South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession regulates quantity surveyors. It operates under the Quantity Surveying Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 49 of 2000), and is one of the six councils coordinated by the Council for the Built Environment.
Quantity surveyors are responsible for construction cost management, from feasibility estimates and tender documentation through to contract administration and final accounts on building projects.
The Council registers professional and candidate quantity surveyors, accredits the university programmes leading to registration, sets competency standards and continuing professional development requirements, and exercises disciplinary jurisdiction over registered persons.
