Supported Employment Enterprises (SEE)

Public Entity · Social Services · reports to Department of Employment and Labour (DEL)

Supported Employment Enterprises provides employment for people with disabilities. It operates as a government component within the Department of Employment and Labour, having previously been known as sheltered employment factories.

It runs manufacturing factories across the country producing furniture, steel products, textiles, linen and wood products, employing people with physical, intellectual and psychiatric disabilities who face barriers to employment in the open labour market.

Its products are supplied largely to government departments and public entities, and its designated status under preferential procurement policy supports that market. Its purpose is both employment creation and the development of skills that may enable transition to open employment.
