The Department of Public Service and Administration sets the norms and standards that govern how the public service is organised, staffed and managed, giving effect to the values in Chapter 10 of the Constitution.
Its work covers public service organisation and post structures, conditions of service and remuneration policy, labour relations in the public service, service delivery improvement, e-government, and public service integrity and anti-corruption measures. It administers the Public Service Act and the regulations made under it.
The National School of Government, the Centre for Public Service Innovation and the State Information Technology Agency fall within its portfolio, and it works alongside the Public Service Commission, which is an independent constitutional body.
